The best Barcelona's panoramic views

Barcelona in two days: see the city from on high

Duration: 2 days     Central Zone + Parks   Offer Code: 2-1

From the first glimpse of Barcelona from the plane's window, you will realize that this city is in a unique location beside the sea and is also surrounded by the mountains.

These features make Barcelona a city that provides its visitors with stunning views which can be enjoyed both in the city itself with its numerous parks, and up into the hills from where you can view the city from on high in all its beauty.

Barcellona desde lo alto
Barcelona from on high

Day 1: the city's high points

The first day of this rather original tour which takes you from the city to up high would normally start in the center: you can climb up the statue of Christopher Columbus which provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy the sea breeze, admire Port Vell and get to see La Rambla, one of Barcelona's most famous attractions which is where the monument is located.  As an alternative, you may like to combine something useful with something enjoyable and climb up to the top floor of the Museum of Catalan History where you can visit a variety of interesting exhibits.  From the meeting point in the center in the Ciutat Vella (the Old Town), you can continue on foot or via the public transport system into one of the most elegant streets in the city, the Passeig de Gracia, where, in addition to shopping for the latest fashions, you can also visit La Pedrera. This work of art by the famous architect, Antoni Gaudí, can be seen from the inside and, more importantly, it is possible to go up onto the roof of this wonderful building so that you can see its artistic beauty from close up whilst you also admire the city from your vantage point on high.  During the afternoon, you may choose to walk over to the Sagrada Familia where you can book a visit to the church and its towers either on a shared tour or by booking a private guide to accompany you.  Visiting one of the towers of Barcelona's iconic basilica is a truly unique experience: you would go up in the lift and come down on foot via the most stunning and unusual staircase.  The panorama that can be enjoyed from the top of the towers is utterly breath-taking and will enable you to admire some of the extraordinary architectural details of the church from close up.

Day 2: the parks above the city

Barcelona is a city that's full of parks. Starting with Park Güell and then carrying on to the park of Montjuic and the Labyrinth Park of Horta makes for the perfect outdoor tour of the city. These parks are slightly outside the city center and are located in the hills above the city limits, strategic points from which to admire the city from on high. The first park is one of Gaudí's real masterpieces which resulted from an in depth study of the harmonious collusion between architecture and nature which created striking contrasts between the brightly colored mosaics and the green of the palm trees and other Mediterranean plants.  If you decide to visit Park Güell in the morning, we recommend doing so on a sunny day, (which is more than likely in Barcelona), or it can also be a good idea to leave your visit until the end of the day because the city's lights then put on a wonderfully romantic display.  Either before or after visiting  Park Güell, you can go up to the Parc del Montjuic where you can admire the castle of the same name and enjoy stunning views over Barcelona's old port. There is also the Hop on – Hop off tour which will take you up to Montjuic!  If you have some spare time, you can also pop in to the Horta-Guinardò park where you will find the famous labyrinth.  This is a perfect place in which to relax and take a break to admire (or maybe draw) the city which you can view from on high.  In order to get there you can take the Green L3 Line on the metro and get off at the Mundet stop.
