The Costa Brava is one of the most popular tourist spots in Europe. And why is it so popular? The answer goes without saying but is relatively simple: the northern Mediterranean coast is a delight for the eyes. The area covered is really significant as the coast line stretches from Blanes, which is 60 km from Barcelona, to the French border and is the location of innumerable wonderful beaches, charming fishing villages, natural parks, museums and so much more. The 8 main towns along the Costa Brava are relatively small and very typical of the region. Each and every one is worthy of discovery and offers beautiful beaches that are well worth exploring. Among the most famous towns which we would make mention of are Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar which are well known, not just for their beauty but also because they both offer a wide range of different entertainments for visitors. Caellla de Palafrugell is, on the other hand, renowned for having retained the traditional appearance of a fishing village. We would also suggest visiting Blanes, the most southerly town on the coast which is home to stunning botanical gardens. Each and every one of the towns on this fabulous coastline are worth a visit for the picturesque beauty they have to offer.
The first part of the tour will be a guided tour of Lloret de Mar and its wonderful beach of Sa Caleta. Lloret de Mar is a small municipality in the Catalan region, about 75 km from Barcelona and is one of the most popular tourist spots on the Costa Brava. Here you will be able to visit the Gothic church of Sant Romà, a really beautiful building with byzantine and renaissance influences; a bronze statue of a fisherman's wife who, so legend has it, will grant your wishes if you rub her feet; the gardens of Santa Clotilde from where you can enjoy stunning panoramic views and the beach of Sa Caleta which is famous for its medieval castle of Sant Joan which is built on the sea shore. The second part of the tour will be a guided visit to Tossa de Mar and the beach of Sa Rosqueta. Tossa de Mar, which is known as the "Blue Paradise" is a fishing village that never fails to enchant every tourist who visits as well as artists and writers who have fallen in love with its charms and the crystal clear waters that lap along its shores. Here you will have a chance to get in touch with the natural world and visit the Villa Vella with its famous 7 towers that extend along the coast and whose interior runs along narrow white stone alleyways with ancient stone buildings and a wonderful choice of restaurants. Then there is Sa Roqueta which is famous for its unusually fine golden sand and because of its close proximity to the historic salt marshes of Marroig. The tour ends with your return to Barcelona which is scheduled for around 16:30.
The first part of the tour is a guided visit to two different sections of the municipalities of Palafrugell, Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc which are located at around 120 km from Barcelona. Calella de Palafrugell is a small Catalan town that is very well known and popular with tourists as it has managed to retain the original atmosphere of a small fishing village. Its white houses with their tiled roofs, the narrow alleyways, the wooden boats on the shore, the wonderful fine sand and the small coves that surround it have made the village one of the most enchanting on the Costa Brava. Lllanfranc, on the other hand, is known not only for its beauty but also for the presence of a lighthouse which stands some 1.5 km from the shore line and from which, you can enjoy spectacular views. From here you will carry on to the medieval village of Pals where you will take a step back into history as you breathe in the medieval atmosphere and visit the Gothic-Roman church of San Pedro and the Torre de les Hores. Your tour will continue on to Estartit, another typical small village where you will have some free time in which to enjoy some typical Catalan dishes (food is not included in the price of the tour) and stroll around the town. After this break for lunch, you will carry on to the Sierra de Montgrí by boat where you can enjoy underwater views (tickets are included in the price of the tour). At Sierra de Montgrì you will have a chance to visit the town itself and an important archaeological center. The end of the tour which is the return to Barcelona, is scheduled for around 20:00 hours.
