Some facts about Spanish wines
Spain boasts a long tradition of wine making and exporting. Like every Mediterranean country, it is definitely a firm lover of the wonderful elixir of Bacchus. In the vineyards that span the country, you can find more than 700 different wines but the most well known number around twenty.
You will find some information below about the three types of wine that are the most famous and the most popular:
- Tempranillo: The name comes from the word "temprano" which means 'early' in Spanish. This is because this type of grape matures much earlier than others. The wines that belong to this group have an intense ruby color and notes of berries, tobacco and vanilla.
- Albariño: this kind of wine is very common in Galicia and is the origin of white wines with little body and very pronounced notes of apricot.
- Macabeo: is very common in Catalonia and is the source of white wines with acerbic notes of fruit and a low alcohol content.
