Built in the first decade of the 1900's, it is the work of the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. It became public in 1926, but today the visit to the monumental area requires a fee. The park is one of the most visited attractions in Barcelona, which welcomes hundreds of people from all over the world every day. Inside, in the monumental area, you will have the opportunity to discover the marvellous mosaic murals, the gatekeeper's house, the dragon's staircase and much more. Breathe in nature in this wonderful park of a thousand colours, let yourself be enchanted by this spectacular work of Gaudí.
What can I visit in the monumental area of Park Güell?
Entering from the main entrance on Carrer d'Olot, the first thing you'll notice will be the gatekeeper's two wonderful houses. The house on the left, in its time, was dedicated to the keeper and the one on the right, however, was the keeper's residence. Both have beautiful and colourful ceilings, built with traditional Catalan tiles and decorated with a mosaic technique. As soon as you pass the forged iron fence, you will be enchanted by the marvellous staircase and columns of the Hipóstila room. The Dragon's Steps are subdivided into 3 sections and in the last section, at the top, you will see the famous dragon or salamander that eventually became the symbolic image of the park. It is difficult to describe in words everything that awaits you, because words cannot explain the beauty of this park's colours and shapes. You'll have to visit it in person to understand it, visit the Greek Theatre with its palm-shaped sculpted heads, the Laundry of the portico with its majestic inclined columns, the gardens of Austria, and finally, venture into the streets and paths of the parks. The park will not only enchant you with its beauty, but will also give you that sense of peace and relaxation that only nature can give you!
