One of the first things you'll notice as you stroll through the streets of Barcelona is the presence of numerous chocolate shops.  Barcelona doesn't just have a special relationship with the sea and with the arts but also with chocolate and sweetmeats.

On this tour, you will be able to wander through the Gothic Quarter and the neighborhood of El Born in the company of a specialist guide who will show you the best the city has to offer and will enable you to sample the most delicious traditional products from the wide range of Catalan sweets and pastries.

How does the sweets and chocolate Tour of Barcelona work?

The sweets and chocolate Tour of Barcelona is a tour that is done on foot through the Gothic Quarter and the neighborhood of El Born.  This will take you on a tasting experience which will enable you to sample the best traditional Catalan sweets and pastries.  The Tour will give you the opportunity to combine the tasting of local sweets with a guided tour of two of the most famous and beautiful neighborhoods in the city.  The Tour runs daily, except for Saturdays and Sundays and starts at 10:00 in front of the beautiful church of Santa María del Mar and carries on from there through the streets of the city center.  The specialist guide will give you their undivided attention throughout the tour as the maximum number of people is never more than 15.  Let yourself be enchanted by the typical flavors of Catalonia as you sample different sweetmeats with your guide.  There are 10 different types of pastries and chocolates.  You can try some churros, gingerbread and plenty more.  You'll experience Barcelona in a unique, fun and delicious style!

Some of the local specialties that you'll be able to try

• Alfajores: soft cornstarch biscuits with dulce de leche (caramel) inside
• Churros: fried dough pastries covered in sugar or chocolate
• Flan
• Crema Catalana: the famous Catalán custard with a caramelized topping.
• Frangollo: an aromatic milk dish made with lemon, cinnamon, raisins and almonds.
• Panellets: small cakes made of marzipan and dried fruits decorated with candied fruit or chocolate.
• Dulce de Membrillo: Small bars of compacted quince and apple jelly.
• Tortas de Aceite: crisp puff pastries with a flavoring of anise.
• Tortell: a puff pastry ring like a croissant stuffed and coated with pine nuts and sugar or chocolate.

You can make your reservation for the tour by filling out the form that you will find on this web page.  Choose your preferred date, indicate the time, (the tour is actually only available at 10:00), select the number of people who will be on the tour and effect your payment either by credit card or PayPal.  You will immediately receive an email confirmation of your booking with all the tour details.  

Prices and timings:

The tour is available daily from Monday to Friday from 10:00 (excluding holidays).  An adult ticket costs €57.00 and children up to the age of 7 can join in free of charge, however, their food and drinks are not included.
